Tombstone-BMN

BMN participates in Circular Plastics Alliance

We warmly welcome BMN to the Circular Plastics Alliance. With great pleasure Henk Kras (Circular Plastics) recently handed over the tombstone to Petran Verhoef of BMN.

BMN stands for Building Materials Netherlands. With more than 85 branches, they are the market leader in the Netherlands. Each branch consists of a small and close-knit team of employees, who feel connected to their region. They offer their customers a wide range of materials and services for professional builders under one roof; from wood and plate, structural work, chemistry & binding agents, finishing work, tiles to hardware and tools. In addition, they offer the customer various services and solutions. Increasing the quality of the construction branche together, that’s what they aim for.

BMN wants to make a decisive contribution to a sustainable construction column. Starting with themselves. They want to reduce the CO2 emissions of their own activities by 30% by 2025. They even want to reduce their own (packaging) waste by 100%. They also develop sustainable solutions for customers. As little waste as possible on the construction site, separated waste return, circular and sustainable building materials, sustainable transport and the establishment of efficient construction hubs. To monitor all actions, they have developed the sustainability route 2022-2025.

BMN is also making great strides in the ESG programme. ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance in other words: Environment, Society and the way in which they run their company. All European BME companies participate in this program. In concrete terms, we are working hard on the target of reducing their CO2 emissions by 30% by 2025. They do this by making their buildings greener, switching to electric lease cars and reducing the emissions of the trucks by switching to green fuels. A good example are the trucks that depart from their DC in Vriezenveen, they run on HVO-100 (a biofuel). This reduces CO2 emissions by 89% compared to regular diesel.

As part of the Circular Plastics Alliance, they would like to map the circular course of their own plastic waste (collection, processing, production, purchase), use alternative carriers for materials, collaborate on waste-free construction sites and of course expand the network.

By adding BMN to the Circular Plastics Alliance, we can further expand the opportunities for circularity in the construction sector. This makes BMN a unique and valuable addition to our Alliance.
