Nexans

Nexans is a global player in energy transition. Their mission is: electrify the future. For over a century, they have played a crucial role in the electrification of the world. The group is taking the lead to a safer, sustainable, renewable, decarbonized and accessible new world of electrical energy.

The 3 Nexans’ CSR pillars are People, Environment and Ecosystem. These axes are break down into nine ambitions corresponding to the issues on which the Group is focusing its CSR efforts, mainly safety at work, diversity, circular economy, climate issue, Business Ethic, stakeholders relationships and Nexans Foundation.

Efforts to achieve these ambitions are overseen by dedicated representatives based on the 2018-2022 roadmap, which is structured into key performance indicators and their targets.

Regarding the environment Nexans disclosed its Climate Pledge, the roadmap to contribute to carbon neutrality by 2030, limiting global warming to 1.5 °c. Nexans targets to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 4.2% per year particularly on scopes 1 & 2 as well as part of Scope 3*.

Nexans has set up an internal target to increase their recycled content. In collaboration with the Circular Plastic Alliance they would consider to drive forward the plastic sustainability topic in the group and support an objective of 100% of production waste to be recycled.

As a member of the Circular Plastics Alliance, Nexans is going to focus mainly on the following aspects:

  • Collection of the plastic and cardboard at the point of sales of their partners and directly on the working site at some key customers.
  • Provide new recycled packaging (plastic, cardboard) to their plants to package the different offers.

Nexans enriches the Circular Plastics Alliance with sharing knowledge and capabilities in treatment of cable waste as well on applicable legislations. Nexans is also member (and co-founder) of Valobat, a French eco-organism which take care of waste of building during construction and demolition. The network and knowledge of Nexans makes them a unique and valuable addition to our Alliance.

*scopes 1 and 2 as well as part of scope 3 relating to business travel, employee commuting, waste produced, as well as upstream and downstream transport, as defined by the GHG protocol.
