Ook de opkomst van circulair en de focus op duurzaam verpakken viel me op. De verpakkingsindustrie, machinebouwers en afvalverwerkers staan klaar om met circulaire verpakkingsoplossingen te komen voor de mooie producten uit de sierteelt en groente- en fruitsector.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Tijdens het bezoek aan de IPM zag ik dat veel ondernemers bezig zijn met circulaire verpakkingsoplossingen van kartonnen trays, papieren hoezen tot recyclebare stapels. De stands waar deze oplossingen werden getoond kregen extra aandacht van bezoekers. De nieuwsgierigheid is bij velen gewekt. Naast enthousiasme zijn er de praktische nadelen van papieren hoezen. Deze zijn zo dicht dat de decoratieve waarde van het product niet meer zichtbaar is. De houdbaarheid is ook niet altijd consistent. Ik vermoed dat naast de extra kosten voor veel kwekers, beide argumenten de rem zijn om aan de slag te gaan.<\/p>\n<p>Dezelfde trends waren merkbaar in de groente- en fruitsector in Berlijn. Fruitco\u00f6peratie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfofruit.nl\/nieuws\/fruitmasters-laat-plastic-weg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Fruitmasters<\/a> kwam met een volledig papieren recyclebare appelverpakking. Aan aandacht was er ook geen gebrek bij de Nederlandse leverancier Java. Deze leverancier van verpakkingsmaterialen kreeg veel aandacht voor hun sledemachines en dozenvouwers. Eenmalig gebruik van plastic is ondenkbaar in de groente- en fruitsector, maar het is duidelijk dat er stappen worden gezet om over te stappen op 100% recyclebare oplossingen. Ik vermoed dat de beelden van plastic soep die dagelijks in veel huiskamers via ons scherm binnenkomen, ons allemaal een extra duwtje in de rug geven.<\/p>\n<p>Het laatste voorbeeld dat ik wil geven is het Circulaire initiatief van een afvalverwerker en enkele sierteeltbedrijven gevestigd op het veilingterrein in Aalsmeer. Zij kwamen bij ons om de marktintroductie van circulaire tuinbouwverpakkingen te financieren. De hele keten is betrokken bij deze oplossing. Dat vind ik een belangrijk onderdeel van de haalbaarheid van deze business case.<\/p>\n<p>Kortom, de plastic afvalstromen van grote Europese supermarkten en Royal FloraHolland worden gesorteerd, verwerkt en 100% gerecycled tot nieuwe herbruikbare en recyclebare verpakkingsoplossingen voor bloemenhoezen, exportverpakkingen voor rozen uit Afrika, stapeltrays, vouwkratten en pallets. In theorie kan een 100% circulaire oplossing worden bereikt door afval te beschouwen als een kans voor de oplossing van een belangrijk wereldwijd probleem. Ik sprak vanmorgen een van de initiatiefnemers achter Circular en ook zij hebben niets te klagen.<\/p>\n<p>Wat wil ik zeggen met deze bloemlezing van voorbeelden. Naast transparant en verantwoord telen via keurmerken, zijn veel ondernemers bewust bezig met oplossingen voor het verpakkingsvraagstuk van de sierteelt- en groente- en fruitketen. We zien toepassingen die al heel concreet en toepasbaar zijn en we zien ook voorbeelden die nog in de ontwikkelingsfase zitten. De kosten-batenanalyse kan voor jou een belangrijk argument zijn om even niets te doen, maar ik vermoed dat de ontwikkelingen in de verpakkingsindustrie en de acceptatie door de consument zo snel gaan dat jouw eindgebruiker na een jaar zegt dat hij jouw product niet meer wil. In de huidige verpakking. Niet omdat er iets mis mee is, maar simpelweg omdat je geen circulaire verpakkingsoplossing kunt bieden.
