Door bewuste keuzes te maken in afvalmanagement, energieverbruik en het gebruik van milieuvriendelijke materialen kunnen festivals hun impact op het milieu aanzienlijk verminderen. Ook dit jaar heeft het 3e Klaphek Festival in Volendam zich ingezet om het festival duurzamer te maken. Tijdens het festival, dat plaatsvond op Hemelvaartsdag, werd een nieuw initiatief gelanceerd met de verkoop van duurzame, recyclebare grondzeilen als alternatief voor de traditioneel meegebrachte bouwzeilen. Deze oranje grondzeilen van 3\u00d73 meter waren verkrijgbaar voor slechts twee consumptiemunten en zorgden voor een kleurrijk nieuw beeld op het festivalterrein.<\/p>\n

De tarps, geproduceerd en gesponsord door KIVO Plastic Packaging, zijn gemaakt van gerecycled en 100% recyclebaar materiaal. Aan het einde van het festival konden bezoekers hun tarps inleveren in een speciaal daarvoor bestemde CircularBag, waarna ze door Kras Recycling weer konden worden opgehaald voor hoogwaardige recycling. \"Het was een groot, duurzaam succes dat we zeker zullen voortzetten. Volgend jaar kan de afvalcontainer minstens half zo klein zijn,\" aldus Alex Schilder, medeorganisator en vrijwilliger van het festival.<\/p>\n

Naast het grondzeil introduceerde het festival dit jaar ook een duurzame harde beker in samenwerking met Dutch Cups. Voor een halve munt konden festivalgangers hun eigen herbruikbare beker kopen, die de hele dag door gebruikt kon worden voor verschillende drankjes zonder smaakoverdracht. Deze bekers konden bij elke nieuwe bestelling aan de bar worden omgeruild, zodat ze bij elk drankje schoon waren. De bekers konden aan het einde van de dag worden ingeleverd of mee naar huis worden genomen.<\/p>\n

De samenwerking tussen Kras Recycling, KIVO Plastic Verpakkingen en Dutch Cups heeft gezorgd voor een duurzamere festivalervaring. Alle drie de bedrijven zijn ook lid van Circular Plastics Alliance.<\/p>\n

Met deze initiatieven zet het 3e Klaphek Festival een nieuwe standaard voor duurzaamheid op evenementen.
