With the integration of RFID chips, these pallets can be tracked everywhere. An innovative digital return system using blockchain technology ensures that the pallets are continuously reused, thereby reducing construction waste and administrative burdens.
Xella’s transition to these circular pallets results in an annual savings of 70 tons of CO2 emissions. The new plastic pallets take up to 60% less space, are a third lighter, have a lifespan that is 3 to 5 times longer, and can serve as raw material for new pallets after their use.
The benefits at a glance:
- The circular plastic pallets take up 60% less space during transport.
- The pallets are 1/3 lighter in weight.
- The pallets last 3 to 5 times longer.
- After their lifespan, the pallets are recycled and reused as raw material.
- Traceable through RFID chips.
- Due to these advantages, there is a CO2 emission savings of 70 tons in the case of Xella Netherlands.
The new plastic pallet was officially introduced during the Royal Hibin event: “Circular Packaging Initiative” on September 13, 2023, in Vuren.
