UPPACT

Uppact is an innovative Dutch scale-up dedicated to closing material loops for plastic and textile waste streams that are currently difficult or impossible to recycle. With the ambition of contributing to a zero-waste, 100% circular economy, Uppact transforms materials traditionally considered non-recyclable into valuable new products with a significantly reduced environmental footprint.

Through its proprietary UnWastor technology, Uppact can mechanically process unsorted, unwashed, and unshredded plastic and textile waste. Using pressure and friction, this waste is directly converted into high-quality, durable, and fully recyclable rPT materials — without the need for pre-sorting or cleaning. This approach reduces energy consumption compared to conventional recycling methods and prevents large volumes of waste from being incinerated, resulting in substantial CO₂ and raw material savings.

Uppact is currently developing a demonstration facility in Farmsum (Delfzijl), the Netherlands, capable of processing thousands of tonnes of hard-to-recycle plastic and textile waste annually into circular construction materials such as poles, planks, and beams. This facility represents an important step toward establishing regional circular ecosystems, where local waste streams are transformed into new products for infrastructure, public space, and other applications.
