In collaboration with Clean the World, we’re working to close the loop on hotel amenity waste. Together, we’re developing a bottle-to-bottle recycling solution for single-use liquid soap bottles. Transforming a complex and often overlooked waste stream into a circular system that delivers long-term environmental and social value across the hospitality sector.

Our role: Mapping the path to circularity

As Circular Plastics Academy, we’re currently in the deep-dive phase of the project. This includes:

– Mapping product flows and material compositions
– Identifying high-value recovery opportunities
– Engaging stakeholders across the chain from hotel brands to recyclers

Our goal is to co-create actionable pathways that enable real-world circular solutions for non-refillable soap bottles.

Key insights & learnings

Creating a closed-loop solution for soap bottles is technically and logistically complex. The bottles contain a mix of materials: plastics, aluminum, and soap residue. Requiring tailored, scalable solutions for effective recovery.

However, within this complexity lies an opportunity. As Floor from Circular Plastics Academy puts it: “Vision is key. Keeping everyone aligned through workshops and collaborative sessions has helped us move forward together.”

Through ongoing collaboration with stakeholders across the supply chain, each new question leads to improved solutions, not only enhancing the recycling process but also adding value to Clean the World’s service and the sustainability of hotel amenity systems.

As we continue refining our solutions, the collaboration with our partners is key to driving progress. We’re still in the development phase, but each step brings new insights, and with creativity and a shared vision, we’re confident in moving toward practical, impactful outcomes.
