circular plastics foundation

Circular Plastics Alliance continues as Foundation

The circular plastics transition is at a tipping point. European legislation, raw material scarcity and increasing sustainability requirements demand more collaboration, knowledge sharing and capacity to execute than ever before. At the same time, much of the available knowledge remains fragmented, pilots often stall after a successful first phase, and the capacity to truly scale innovations is often lacking.

To enable this acceleration, Circular Plastics Alliance is taking the next step together with KplusV and the Province of North Holland. With the establishment of Circular Plastics Foundation, an independent platform is being created in which companies, public authorities and knowledge institutions work together on the development of future ready circular plastics value chains.

From individual initiatives to structural acceleration

The transition towards a circular plastics value chain is well underway, but it will not happen by itself. There is a great deal of knowledge, ambition and innovative power, but it is often spread across different organisations. As a result, strong ideas and successful pilots sometimes fail to progress before they can be applied on a large scale.

At the same time, new regulations and increasing pressure on raw materials are making collaboration increasingly important.

With this in mind, CPA is now taking the next step. By continuing as Circular Plastics Foundation, the network gains a strong and independent foundation for the future. This allows companies, public authorities and knowledge institutions to continue finding each other, sharing knowledge and working together on solutions that move the circular plastics value chain forward.

“The challenges facing the plastics sector cannot be solved by individual organisations alone. With Circular Plastics Foundation, we bring parties together to take joint steps and develop solutions that truly make a difference,” says Henk Kras.

Five programme lines as a foundation

Circular Plastics Foundation will focus on five themes: networking, knowledge sharing, innovation, chain collaboration and impact. In doing so, the organisation addresses the most important challenges within the circular plastics transition.

The new structure provides greater clarity and a strong foundation for further growth. CPF brings parties together, connects knowledge with practice and helps innovations develop more quickly into applications that create real impact. In this way, the Foundation aims to contribute to a stronger and better connected circular plastics value chain.

A future ready organisational model

The new foundation makes it easier to collaborate with public authorities, knowledge institutions and companies. This structure also creates more opportunities to apply for funding for projects that contribute to a circular plastics value chain.

“Circular Plastics Foundation brings together parties that share the same ambition. By working together and sharing knowledge, we can achieve more than we can individually, and successful initiatives have a greater chance of developing further,” says Bernedine Bos of KplusV.

More support for new initiatives

For members, this step creates more room for activities such as events, knowledge sharing, working groups and joint projects. Thanks to the collaboration with KplusV, more initiatives can also be taken up and developed further.

Circular Plastics Foundation aims to become the connecting platform for circular plastics in the Netherlands. A place where companies, public authorities, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations come together, share knowledge, accelerate innovations and jointly work towards a future ready circular economy.
