To see ahead is to govern

In this week of the Circular Economy, Circular Plastics Academy and Horizonteer organized 2 free workshops.

Willem Westerveld from Horizonteer and Floor van Osch from Circular Plastics Academy gave the workshop Circular packaging – What should and what is possible in 2024.

Together with participants, we looked ahead to the upcoming PPWR regulations, R-strategies that you can apply to packaging and inspiring examples of sustainable packaging. A lot is set to change in the coming years in the field of packaging. For example, by 2030, all packaging must be recyclable.

Packaging that is less than 70 percent recyclable should be banned from 2030. Otherwise, the packaging will be labeled as ‘technically not recyclable’ and will not be allowed to enter the market.

In addition, we have also set a target within the EU to reduce our packaging waste by 15% by 2040, while packaging waste has grown by 24.2% between 2010 and 2021! If your company works with packaging, it is essential to take action now.

Did you miss the workshop and would you like to know exactly what you can do to reduce your packaging waste and make it more recyclable? At Circular Plastics Academy we are happy to share our knowledge and skills with you! Contact us: info@circular-plastics-academy.com
